Adding a professional voice over to your videos is a game-changer. It adds personality and connection, stops the scroll and tells your story clearly - all without having to be on camera!
Follow (or watch) our easy, step by step guide to record a voice over straight from your phone.
What you'll need:
CapCut app
Your phone
Your mic
Step 1: Download & Open Your Video
Download your social speed walk-through video from the Crib Creative app to your phone. This will save to your photos/camera roll.
Open the CapCut app on your phone.
Create a new project and import your social speed walk-through video.
Step 2: Connect Your Mic
Plug the mic adapter into your phone.
Press the power button on the mic until the light turns green (that means itās ready)
Step 3: Get Ready to Record
Tap āAudioā at the bottom menu.
Scroll to the right and select āRecordā.
Step 4: Record Your Voice Over
Press the large blue button with the mic icon to record
Speak clearly into your mic while watching the video play. You dont have to hold the mic directly to your mouth, if you hold it at chin height, it should be perfect.
Try to match your timing with the visuals if that is how you want it to sound.
TIP š” Put the video into ChatGPT and ask it to create a video script based off the video and its length - double check the script to ensure it is correct.
When finished, hit stop
Save the recording - CapCut will automatically place it under your video track.
Step 5: Adjust Your Audio
Tap on your voiceover track.
Go to Volume and drag the slider all the way up for maximum clarity.
You still want to hear the music underneath your voiceover - this can be adjusted as well to be quieter while you speak
Step 6: Export Your Final Video
Tap the Export button (top-right corner).
Save the video to your Camera Roll.
Step 7: Share on Social Media
Open Instagram / TikTok and Upload your video as a Story or a Reel.
TIP š” Always do a quick test recording first to check that your mic is picking up sound before recording the full voiceover.
