Updated: Sep 3, 2020

Does Blogging help with SEO?

Blogging helps boost SEO quality by positioning your website as a relevant answer/source to your customer's questions. It’s a great place to share your knowledge and possibly even promote something to your audience or client that they didn’t know before.

Blog posts that use a variety of on-page SEO tactics can give you more opportunities to rank in search engines and get clients to visit your site.

SEO is very important for marketers – but it can also be very complicated to understand!

So here are some of our top SEO tips that we use here at Crib to help you optimize your blog content and make it rank organically and be easily searchable.

  1. Do not use long and complex sentences

  2. Optimize your headings with keywords and a catchy title

  3. Make sure your blog is mobile friendly and responsive

  4. Use internal links in your post - with this you can send new readers to check out your old relevant posts. External links are also great to help search engines determine what your blog is about.

  5. Optimize your meta description, and use all the space - Its purpose is to provide a short description of your article for search engines. A good meta description can explain a lot more about an article. Social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn also display it when your articles are shared on those platforms. Categorize your posts

  6. Add Images and Video to your blogs – they are far more engaging than plain text and help show examples/support text.

  7. Make your articles easier to read – articles that are easier to read often rank higher – make it easy for user to scan through. Create sections or dot points to get information or even a summary at the end.

  8. The longer and more in depth the better – search engines like google index posts that are 1000+ words higher than those that are under 300

  9. Don’t use too many similar topic tags

  10. Create evergreen content and content that will help people/that will interest them

  11. Repurpose or update your current content and remove outdated content

  12. Create a call-to-action at the end to encourage comments. Having to write a comment keeps a reader on your site longer, signalling to Google and other search engines that your blog is full of worthwhile information. If you have a blog of your own or have ever thought about starting one make sure you keep these tips in mind to boost your SEO and optimize your chance of getting more people to your page! Happy blog writing 😊
